This is not a big surprise for anyone using YouTube, but it also bothers when the YouTube Kids app is designed for child-friendly content. Thankfully, YouTube Kids have many options for parents, so they can be able to keep their children safe from inappropriate videos.

How to set a passcode on the YouTube Kids app
Follow these steps to set a passcode, which will keep you away from circumventing the restrictions that you set.

1. Open the YouTube Kids app on Android or iOS.
2. Tap on the lock icon in the bottom-right corner.
3. Resolve the mathematical problem and tap Submit.
4.Set a four-digit passcode, and confirm it.

This will create a passcode to access the app’s settings and restrictions. Unless children know this passcode, they will not be able to make any restrictions on YouTube Kids.

How to Keep Kids Safe on YouTube Kids
If you are signed in to an account, follow these steps to enable related settings to keep your kids safe on YouTube Kids.

1. Open the YouTube Kids app on Android or iOS.
2. Tap on the lock icon in the bottom-right corner. Enter your passcode.
3.Tap Settings.
4. Tap your child’s profile name.
5. Enter your Gmail password and sign in.
6. Disable Search. This will remove the search option and prevent your child from finding videos on YouTube Kids.
7. Only enable approved content. Once you do this, you can go to the app’s home screen and select the channels that you want to watch videos from your kids. Each of these channels has been approved by a human curator, so your child alone is not at the mercy of Google’s algorithms.
8. Enable History View Pauses. This will prevent you from using video views or search terms in the app to watch YouTube Kids videos.

If you use YouTube Kids without signing in, you will see most of these options under Settings, but advanced parental controls will not be available in Step 7.

How to limit children’s time on YouTube Kids
These steps will allow you to limit how long your child sees YouTube videos through the YouTube Kids app.

1. Open the YouTube Kids app on Android or iOS.
2. Tap on the lock icon in the bottom-right corner. Enter your passcode.
3.Tap on the timer.
4. Now you can set the deadline between one and 60 minutes. Once you’ve done, tap Start timer.

These simple steps let you report videos that are inappropriate for children on YouTube Kids.

1. Open the YouTube Kids app on Android or iOS.
2. Play any video.
3. Pause the video and then tap the flag icon or the report button.
4. Select the problem with video from three options – Inappropriate audio, inappropriate video, or other.
5. Tap on the report.
6. You can also block some videos from appearing on the YouTube Kids app. Open any channel on YouTube Kids
7. Tap the three vertical dots icon below the video.
8. Tap this video.

These steps will allow you to keep an inappropriate video away from your kids on the YouTube Kids app. You should also consider options like Netflix (which has a dedicated Kids section) among many others.
